Italian adjectives in medical documents

Katarzyna Maniowska

Abstract

Medical translation requires a high level of specialised and linguistic knowledge. Translators
and interpreters have to know the necessary terminology in order to render medical
documents appropriately. The aim of this paper was to analyse Italian medical terminology
and discuss certain difficulties that may be encountered while translating Italian medical
documents into Polish. Several examples taken from original medical documentation were
used to illustrate the different use of terminological adjectives in the two language systems.
