dr Alina Mitek-Dziemba - adiunkt w Katedrze Literatury Porównawczej, absolwentka filologii angielskiej i filozofii w trybie Międzywydziałowych Indywidualnych Studiów Humanistycznych. Tłumaczka dzieł filozofów nurtu neopragmatystycznego (Richard Shusterman, Richard Rorty), autorka licznych artykułów sytuujących się na pograniczu estetyki filozoficznej i literatury porównawczej. Ostatnio opublikowała książkę pod tytułemLiteratura i filozofia w poszukiwaniu sztuki życia. Nietzsche, Wilde, Shusterman (Katowice 2011), poświęconą analizie strategii estetycznej autokreacji w XIX-wiecznej literaturze i filozofii, z odniesieniami do współczesnej sceny filozoficznej. Jest także współredaktorką antologii Drzewo Poznania. Postsekularyzm w przekładach i komentarzach (Katowice 2012, z Piotrem Bogaleckim), pierwszego w języku polskim tomu esejów omawiającego tzw. zwrot postsekularny z perspektywy poststrukturalistycznej. W swoich obecnych badaniach koncentruje się na współczesnym przekładoznawstwie, ekokrytyce, estetyce środowiskowej, pragmatystycznie pojętej somaestetyce oraz myśli postsekularnej. 

Alina Mitek-Dziemba, PhD, an assistant professor in the Chair of Comparative Literature, a graduate of the English Department and Philosophy (a student in the programme Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities). She is a translator of the works of neopragmatist philosophers (Richard Shusterman and Richard Rorty) and an author of numerous articles discussing points of intersection of philosophical aesthetics and comparative literature. She has recently published a book entitled Literature and Philosophy in Pursuit of the Art of Living.Nietzsche, Wilde, Shusterman (2011), devoted to the strategies of aesthetic self-creation in late nineteenth-century literature and thinking, with references to contemporary philosophical scene. She is also a co-editor of the anthologyThe Tree of Knowledge. Postsecularism in Translations and Commentary (2012, with Piotr Bogalecki), the first volume in Polish to discuss the so-called postsecular turn from the poststructuralist perspective. Her current research focuses on translation studies, ecocriticism, environmental aesthetics, pragmatistically oriented somaesthetics and post-secular thinking.
